Fall in Calgary!

Fall in Calgary!

When I landed in Calgary, Canada this week and stepped one foot outside the airport, there was no doubt summer has said it’s final goodbye and fall is most certainly here.  I knew it’s that time of year where the leaves start to turn so I was excited to see the city and see how fall had colored it’s trees.
Woke up to a view of downtown with a sleepy sunrise sky.  Made my way down to the train station later in the morning and took the train into the downtown area.  Walked passed the head in the street; had to grab a shot of such unique artwork.  Passed through Chinatown and onto the waterfront park.  Ended up grabbing a bite to eat in a little place called 1886 Cafe and tried their version of Eggs Benedict.  It was quite good or maybe I was quite hungry!  Don’t think I was thinking normally because the normal me would’ve opted to ask for fruit in place of the potatoes although the potatoes there were quite delicious.  Ran across the street to try some coffee and found a humorous coffee sign about happiness that any coffee drinker can agree with.
I then made my way back up the water front taking in as much as the city as I could and enjoying nature and it’s fall colors before hopping on a train back outside of downtown.  I hope to see Calgary again. Next time I may take a little longer to explore the unique art of the city.  There was so much to see for a few short hours, it was a little overwhelming.  Let’s see how long it takes to land here again....Until next time Calgary......

Got a taste of Jackson Hole, Wyoming....

Traveling around this past week and one of the stops along the way was a sleepy town called Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  It reminded me a bit of Anchorage, Alaska in more ways than one.  I got a chance to take a short walk through town to get a feel of the city vibe.

My short few hours started with a breathtaking sunrise sky.  I was up before the sun peaked and there was a beautiful red sky outside my room. Stepped outside in my tank top in 30-degree weather.  It didn’t even phase me which is odd being that I’ve lived primarily in warmer climates all my life.  Either way, took in the moment.  Made way into town a little later in the morning and found myself in the middle of the city.  There are distinct Elk Antler arches that welcome you to a park in town.  I could easily spot the locals from the visitors.  They were the ones out wearing shorts and flip-flops even though the early morning temperatures were in the 30′s-40′s. Saw a cute young brother and sister playing near the park statue with other children.  The little boy caught my attention because he was wearing a flower in his hair.  His mother laughed and said he insisted that he get a flower in his hair like his older sister because he doesn’t realize gender differences yet. He wore the flower proudly. It’s so sweet to see the innocence of a child.

The farmers market was fun to see. So many different food items to purchase. Huckleberry seems to have been a theme.  Was contemplating picking up a jar of Huckleberry jam.  Decided I couldn’t lug it along to my next travel city so I declined to get it.  Wish I had, but maybe next time.  I watched a doughnut vendor at the market get cleaned out in minutes of their doughnuts. I was told they were very delicious. I was tempted to try one but decided my waistline and my wallet couldn’t afford it.  I finally caved when I found some Huckleberry Lemonade.  I had to try it.  I must say it was sweet but very delicious.  I liked the fact that I could actually taste real lemon.

On my way back out of town I ran into an adorably cute doggie resident riding in the back of a truck.  There was just something about his face and his countenance that I just loved. Had to get a pic to share.

It was short, sweet but fun Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A city definitely worth a visit. I hope to see you again sometime in the near future.

Let me Reintroduce Myself.....

So it’s no secret that I’ve been quiet for quite some time.  I haven’t forgotten about my etsy shop but life just happened since my last post.  I’m back and will try my best to keep up with updates here though my schedule is often hectic and unpredictable.
So a little bit about me now.  Those who have known me for a very long time have witnessed a complete transformation in my life.  I’m no longer living in Los Angeles, though I miss it.  I have relocated to Dallas Texas for my work.  For 12 years I had worked full time in entertainment in Los Angeles, but decided to try my hand at something completely new and am now working in travel.  I travel quite frequently and I plan on sharing some of my adventures here. I’ve really taken the plunge into photography lately.  Nothing fancy.  Just iPhone stuff but I enjoy it.  As you can already see, I’ve posted above a few photos I’ve taken along the way during my travels. Anyway these last couple of years haven’t been without many growing pains.  I’m currently in the process of relearning who I am.  One of the biggest and hardest challenges has been recognizing vulnerability in my life. I realize when you don’t know who you are, you can and will fall for just about anything.  It hasn’t been easy and I’m thankful that I realized my need for change when I did.
God certainly has had his hand on my journey thus far.  I see it everyday and I am truly grateful that I’m able to experience the things I have and continue to walk in faith.  Life is far from perfect but I know with each passing day I’m becoming stronger and the puzzle pieces of life will come together when the time is right. There is no point in rushing things prematurely. Until then I intend to enjoy the journey.
Needless to say because I have had a lot of new things on my plate I haven’t had a real chance to be creative on my bead board.  For months I sat trying to come up with new designs.  Several weeks ago I got really excited because I had a breakthrough and now this is the first step in shifting thing around here.  I hope to have my new pieces up in my etsy shop soon so stay tuned.  Still a lot of good ones in the store for sale. Don’t forget to check out my shop at www.LuvAlisa.com.
Thank you for allowing me to share what I’ve been up to.  Hope you have a chance to drop by my shop soon.
