Introducing LuvAlisa Photography......

Guilty!! I know I've kind of fallen off the radar for a while.  Truth is, I've been hard at work trying to reorganize my life.  It's a never ending process.  I'm still making my jewelry but my focus has been on a new pet project that I'm officially introducing today.  I have opened a secondary Etsy storefront called LuvAlisa Photography and I am offering for purchase print photos that I have taken with my iphone over the last couple of years as I have jumped around the world for work.  I have shifted the main weblink to this new storefront so it can be found at www.LuvAlisa.com.

For those of you who don't know and may be curious, a number of years ago I stepped out in faith and did a massive overhaul of my life.  I left my 11 year relationship with my former fiance and decided at the same time on a drastic career change. It was a very overwhelming process with a lot of uncertainty. God has truly been my rock throughout this process.

I am now a flight attendant for a major carrier. Starting over at the bottom of the barrel in a new career later in life, basically gives me no choice but to bury myself in work until the paycheck can finally make some ends meet. That's why I've been so inconsistent with this blog. Please forgive me, I'm still learning balance....

I was in Mexico City shortly after I first began flying and I was explaining to a tour guide on what I now do for a living.  He looked at me, smiled and said: "Ah you're like a grasshopper."  His comment really stuck with me. I must say, his description of my job is absolutely right.  I am just that - a grasshopper jumping aimlessly around the world; never knowing where I'll be landing next. Since I've started this new journey hopscotching around the world,  I have been using my  iphone to take photographs of things I see along the way. That is what this LuvAlisa Photography project is all about. No fancy cameras. Just me and my iphone and the things I see along the way.

This project initially started very innocently as a private facebook album for friends. I just wanted to share a photo from every city I visited to give them a taste of what I was up to. It was also a way for me to keep a record of where I've been. That private album has turned into a travel journal of sorts. After some encouragement from friends, I feel it's now time to take some of these photographs that I've taken along the way and turn them into works of art for others to enjoy.  I'm still trying to find my place in all of this. If you have any tips or suggestions, I'm happy to hear them.  Always trying to be better and do better.

For a limited time - I'm going to offer 10% off your entire order.  It's my way of saying Thank you for letting me get my feet wet in this new endeavor.  Use coupon code 10OFF at check out when you visit LuvAlisa.com and instantly save!

HOPE ANCHORS THE SOUL

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my etsy shop with anything new.  I really feel like I’ve dropped the ball this year.  It’s not that I meant to, but sometimes life just takes over.
While in Los Angeles recently I decided to start stocking up on some beading supplies. When I hit the jewelry district and ran across these beautiful Amazonite beads, I knew I HAD to get them. Since summer is right around the corner, I decided on replicating my most popular design into a fresh crisp, summertime color pattern.  That’s when this necklace was born.
From time to time I like to just research the stones I use.  Upon researching a little bit about the Amazonite stone I ran across what some believe it means. Apparently it’s a stone of truth, honor, communication, integrity and hope.  The word HOPE jumped off the page at me.  It is a word that has become a cornerstone focus in my personal life the last couple of years. It brought Hebrews 6:19 - Hope Anchors the soul - to my mind. Hope is probably the single most important factor in life.  Without hope, we truly have nothing. It is something to cling to and preserve when times are difficult.  Some days having hope in what God has promised us is the only way to make it through.  It is my desire that this piece can bring comfort to those who wear it by giving them the simple reminder of the hope we may have in Gods promises.
This necklace is now available in my etsy shop (www.LuvAlisa.com). I also have a version made in bronze as well.  Feel free to stop in and take a look around.

Live, Laugh, Love AFTER Valentines Day!

Ok so I apologize I’m far behind here with everything!!!  I’ve been super busy with work. I haven’t even had a chance to write about it OR my poor etsy shop.
SOOOO it’s after Valentines Day. I decided I’m doing this one for the ladies. You know who you are:  You’re the one that had it slammed in your face that it was Valentines Day, or as I like to call it: Single Awareness Day. Now that you’ve had the chance to hit those after Valentines Day clearance aisles to pick up that chocolate you didn’t receive as a gift and have probably have indulged in that whole box by now reminding yourself with every bite how much more satisfying chocolate is than a man anyway.  No headache, no drama just plain sweet and oh so delicious. But now you’re back to square one - Still single with more gym time on the brain.
AND of course I can’t forget about my sisters on the other side of the fence either, cause I've been there too.  You know those ladies out there who might have someone and well, things aren’t quite what they should be. Whether it’s the best of mediocrity, or man drama 24/7 OR a guy who just lacks creativity in the gift giving department making Valentines Day a dud anyway: This sale is for you!   It’s time to shake off bad reminders and just have a little fun! I’ve decided to put my entire etsy shop on SALE. (Here’s a link to the shop: www.LuvAlisa.com.) Now is the time to get a little treat for yourself!!!! I’m calling it my LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE after Valentines Day SALE. For a short time SAVE 15% off all items in my shop!
LIVE your life and indulge cause you deserve it. LAUGH because laughter is good for the soul and LOVE yourself because you were created by God to be the beautiful soul you are. This is just a reminder for the ladies, no matter what chapter of life you are in, don’t ever let someone else dictate the way you value yourself.  All good things happen in God’s perfect time. No point in rushing things. Embrace the blessings you have and make the most of what today has to offer. Patience is key.  I truly believe it.

Peace and Love Handmade Jewelry!

I’ve been so busy traveling that I haven’t had an opportunity to share my most recent pieces that are available in my etsy shop found at www.LuvAlisa.com.  I’ve been wanting to share these pieces for quite some time. When I sat down recently to create some new pieces, it was at the time that the world watched the horrific events unfold in Paris. Like many others; those events plagued my mind and my heart ached for what those involved went through. As many can agree the world needs more Peace and more love and I wanted to create a piece that would reflect just that.  As I sifted through my inventory of charms, I came across an old dove with an olive branch. I’ve had this charm for quite some time but never found a use for it. Knowing that it is a symbol of peace, I couldn’t think of a better time to put it to use.  I paired the dove with a heart accented by a pink crystal and rose quartz, thus the necklace of Peace and Love was born.  I have it available in both silver tone and bronze tone.
I also made a version for those of faith who wished to have a cross charm included for the complete message of Peace, Faith and Love.  These new necklaces and many more are currently available in my etsy shop.  Please feel free to stop in to take a look around.

FINALLY!!! New Jewelry Designs & a SALE!!!

FINALLY!!!  New jewelry designs & a SALE!!!
I’m so excited to share that I FINALLY have some new designs available in my etsy shop (www.LuvAlisa.com).  It’s been a long time coming and being back feels so good!  To celebrate I’m putting my entire shop on sale for a short time. Save 10% off your order today.
I’ll admit it.  I sat here for months with what I call “beaders block.” I tried and tried to come up with a new design for my shop (www.LuvAlisa.com) but nothing was flowing. Things that used to come so easily to me in minutes weren’t there anymore. For those who know me personally know the last two years have been a whirlwind of constant change in my life and for a while there I had no choice but to take a break from my jewelry making. Getting back on the horse hasn’t been an easy process and I’m still trying to find my routine with my new work schedule. I’m hoping to be more consistent with it, so bear with me as get my bearing straight.  Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I got REALLY REALLY excited. I actually had a breakthrough.  My beaders block suddenly lifted and this necklace design was born and that is why I am featuring it today. It was the first of several new pieces I’ve added to the store.
This copper tone lariat style necklace features a single key charm.  The chain runs through the center of the key hole and attached to the end is a single wire wrapped blue crystal.  Accenting one side of the necklace is a line of crystal beads. This necklace doesn’t come apart. It is worn by putting it over your head and adjusting to whatever length you choose.  This is a delicate design. It’s a fun piece that can be dressed up or dressed down, you choose.
This piece and many other beautiful handmade jewelry pieces are available in my jewelry box and waiting for a good home. I hope you take some time and stop in today!!

Let me Reintroduce Myself......

Let me Reintroduce Myself.....

So it’s no secret that I’ve been quiet for quite some time.  I haven’t forgotten about my etsy shop but life just happened since my last post.  I’m back and will try my best to keep up with updates here though my schedule is often hectic and unpredictable.
So a little bit about me now.  Those who have known me for a very long time have witnessed a complete transformation in my life.  I’m no longer living in Los Angeles, though I miss it.  I have relocated to Dallas Texas for my work.  For 12 years I had worked full time in entertainment in Los Angeles, but decided to try my hand at something completely new and am now working in travel.  I travel quite frequently and I plan on sharing some of my adventures here. I’ve really taken the plunge into photography lately.  Nothing fancy.  Just iPhone stuff but I enjoy it.  As you can already see, I’ve posted above a few photos I’ve taken along the way during my travels. Anyway these last couple of years haven’t been without many growing pains.  I’m currently in the process of relearning who I am.  One of the biggest and hardest challenges has been recognizing vulnerability in my life. I realize when you don’t know who you are, you can and will fall for just about anything.  It hasn’t been easy and I’m thankful that I realized my need for change when I did.
God certainly has had his hand on my journey thus far.  I see it everyday and I am truly grateful that I’m able to experience the things I have and continue to walk in faith.  Life is far from perfect but I know with each passing day I’m becoming stronger and the puzzle pieces of life will come together when the time is right. There is no point in rushing things prematurely. Until then I intend to enjoy the journey.
Needless to say because I have had a lot of new things on my plate I haven’t had a real chance to be creative on my bead board.  For months I sat trying to come up with new designs.  Several weeks ago I got really excited because I had a breakthrough and now this is the first step in shifting thing around here.  I hope to have my new pieces up in my etsy shop soon so stay tuned.  Still a lot of good ones in the store for sale. Don’t forget to check out my shop at www.LuvAlisa.com.
Thank you for allowing me to share what I’ve been up to.  Hope you have a chance to drop by my shop soon.

As I sat down last weekend to make some new items, I stumbled across this pretty bird that I've had for a while. I realized I hadn't done anything with him, so I created this simple piece.  This handmade necklace features a single wire wrapped aqua blue chalcedony stone.  The stone reminds me of a winter blue...The bronze colored bird with a branch round out the piece. Simple and gorgeous.

UNICORN!

So after being under the weather for a week, I finally had a chance to sit down this past weekend and get a little creative.

When I was a young girl I discovered the majestic animal called the Unicorn. I used to let my imagination run away and always wanted to own one.  I was very disappointed when I learned they didn't exist.  I told my parents I would settle for a horse but that didn't happen either.  Anyway, I know I can't possibly be the only person who loved unicorns and thus I decided to incorporate the mythical animal into my jewelry.  This handmade necklace features a wire wrapped rose quartz pendant as well as a bronze colored unicorn charm accented by a crystal. Very cute. You can actually own this unicorn.  He's currently available in my etsy shop that can be found at www.LuvAlisa.com.

I also wanted to add I'm offering 10% off in my shop until November 16th, but the coupon code is only available on the shop's facebook page.  Click LIKE on facebook and get the code. The facebook page can be found here: www.Facebook.com/LuvAlisa

TRUE LOVE

"There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:13
The recent new of the events that unfolded in Libya on 9/11/2012 have been tugging on my heart  lately and it drew me back to the bible verse John 15:13.  The ultimate price one can pay is to lay down his life. Marinating on this verse made me think of the cross. I decided to create a piece symbolizing the ultimate love.

Rose Quartz is often thought of as the stone of love. Since it symbolizes love, I decided to use it as the focal point of this necklace. I wire wrapped the rose quartz stone and paired it with a small cross charm.  The cross symbolizes the ultimate price Jesus paid by laying down his life.  Jesus paid a debt he did now owe because he loved us (sinners) so much.  It truly is the ultimate sacrifice.

This necklace is currently available in my etsy shop which can be found at www.LuvAlisa.com.

THINKING OF HOME

A little fun fact about me: I grew up on an Orchid farm.  So every time I see an orchid, I think of home. In my teens I was constantly surrounded by the beauty of the majestic flower known as the Orchid. It's funny, when you're constantly surrounded by such beauty, you take it for granted.  Being away for so many years has given me an appreciation for the flower.  When I recently stumbled upon some orchid components, I just had to make something with them.

This is a pair of sterling silver earrings feature wire wrapped Aqua blue Chalcedony beads paired with a fresh water pearl.  Each earring features a orchid flower.  Simple and elegant.

You can add these orchids to your garden of jewels by picking them up in my etsy shop.  You can visit them shop at www.LuvAlisa.com.

THINK PINK!!

October is breast cancer awareness month, so I've decided to feature a pink item from my shop.

When I sat down on Sunday to create new items for my shop like I usually do, I ran into a little thing I call beaders block. Nothing I did was really working to my liking. Anyone else suffer from it?  I did manage to create this beautiful piece.  The pink in the rose quartz just called to me. Paired the wire wrapped pink rose quartz stone with a cute silver bird charm and this necklace was born.

This handmade necklace is currently up for grabs in my etsy shop.  Feel free to visit the shop at www.LuvAlisa.com.

SIMPLY LOVE....

Spent my entire weekend scrambling.  For the last several weeks I have been keeping busy by making necklaces and earrings to donate to my friends ministry Love Your Neighbor located in Pago Pago, American Samoa.  I am happy to report that the project is finally complete. Please check out my friends non-profit at Samoalyn.org

With the little time I did have, I was able to come up with a couple of new pieces for my shop. I have been staring at this little "love" connector bead for weeks and finally came up with this simple bronze bracelet.  The bracelet features blue and crystal beads meshed in with bronze chain.  The bracelet secures with a lobster clasp.  If you're interested in purchasing this bracelet it's currently for sale in my etsy shop, which can be found at LuvAlisa.com

COLORS OF AUTUMN.....

It's that time of year again, when we start see the vibrant colors as a result of the changing of the seasons. As I welcome the cooler weather and wait for the beauty of the season to appear, I decided to take to my bead board and create jewelry reflecting the colors of Autumn.

Here is a simple pair of dangle earrings I made last weekend. The earrings feature wire wrapped orange carnelian beads accented by green and orange crystal beads.  Simple and pretty.

If you wish to purchase these earrings I have them currently for sale in my etsy shop found at LuvAlisa.com
